• zlib — used by zip and gzip (the de facto standard in lossless compression)
• libbzip2 — slightly better compression than zlib
• LZMA SDK — extreme compression (LZMA is used by the 7-Zip compression tool)
• lzo — lightweight fast compression library
• ucl — slightly better compression than lzo
• liblzg — an LZ77 compression library, evolved from the Basic Compression Library
• libhuffman — an open source implementation of the Huffman compression algorithm
